                 Dealing with Strife

Lack of control, enraged, bitterness and resentment.  These are just some of the fruits that come from strife.  Strife can tear away at us like a dog tearing away at the flesh.  It affects us and the people around us.  Our lives can become difficult.

What does the bible say about strife?  Hebrews 12:14-15 says, “Strive to live in peace with everybody and pursue that consecration and holiness without which no one will see the Lord.  Exercise foresight and be on the watch to look to see that no one falls back from and fails to secure God’s grace, in order that no root of resentment shoots forth and causes trouble and bitter torment and the many become contaminated and defiled by it.”

We need to shut out strife from our lives.  Strife keeps God’s blessing and anointing and joy out.  If we ignore the effects of strife, it will being to poison our attitudes.  It will also affect our relationships.

First you must recognize it and pray.  Learn to control your manner of speech and talk calmly through disagreements.  Don’t allow pride, resentment or jealousy get the best of you.  Immediately try to restore peace.  You don’t have to agree on an issue, only let it go.  If there is one thing the enemy wants to take from you it is to rob you from your joy.  Change your pride to humility and your sharp tongue to quietness.

There will be moments when we should speak up, but it’s important that it is the Holy Spirit’s prompting.  It is far better to speak from the Holy Spirit’s wisdom than our own earthly emotions.  What a wonderful opportunity  to create a more harmonious and joyful life for yourself and the people you care about.
